Enjoyable murder-thriller set in blue-collar Boston. Clint Eastwood's directorship is surprisingly competent, as are Academy award-winning performances from Sean Penn and Tim Robbins. Plot seems determinable enough, and leaves you wondering how long the meandering characters will take to realise. Decentish twist at the end. Laura Linney irritating as ever. (50 words)
