A prequel for the Robert Langdon character I first met in the Da Vinci Code and really it is more of the same. Intelligently written and a wide coverage of both religion and science. Not what you would call believable but entertaining all the same. Well worth a look. (49 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Well written if rather controversial novel surrounding the chase for the Holy Grail which Brown asserts is not a chalice but a code for Mary Magdalene being married to Christ. Not knowing the detail of the subject means I can't comment but some of the claims seem rather unlikey. (49 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Although rather dated now (the original version was written in the 70s) there is still a lot of great material in here. Useful for both the programmer - to understand more about themselves and their colleagues, and managers to try and understand the people who work for them. (48 words)
| 0 Comment(s)This follow up to the Dark Material Trilogy by Phillip Pullman looks at what happened to lead character Lyra two years on. Nice to hear a bit more of her story but don't buy it for a long journey, it takes about half an hour to read! (47 words)
| 0 Comment(s)This already well-reputed book is an imaginative and moving look at the life of a teenage autistic boy who discovers a dead dog and wants to know what happened. This leads him on a trip which makes him confront new experiences and learn about himself and the world around him. (50 words)
| 0 Comment(s)A fantastic read about those who have asked the big question of themselves, and made a change. Po has interviewed nearly 900 people, and it’s through their experiences he conveys interesting and informative messages. A refreshing change to the intense self-help style preaching one usually expects from such a book. (50 words)
| 0 Comment(s)This is sub-standard airport fodder. The writing was terrible. You increasingly get the impression from his books that they are less a novel and more a set of ideas for a movie or TV show. I suppose I only encourage him by buying the books so I must stop that. (50 words)
