Not usually a fan of the Coen brothers but this is a genuinely good film. Having watched Big Fish recently it has very much the same feeling of slightly fantastical exageration. Clooney makes a good fist of comedy acting and is ably supported by a talented cast. (47 words)

I am not a western expert but this seemed a good example. The story has a bit more to it than just cowboys and criminals and the impact of the shootings is examined a little closer than is usual. Clint Eastwood plays himself but directs really well. (47 words)

Ben Affleck's first outing as Jack Ryan in this Tom Clancy novel-based film manages to be both stressful and predictable at the same time. Hero saves world from impending doom at 11th hour. The best bit? Ciaran Hinds (Helen Mirren's husband in Calendar Girls) as the Russian president. (48 words)

Al Pacino overacts his ass off (as he usually does) and Colin Farrell puts on a bad American accent (as he usually does). Poor mans thriller where the main enjoyment is who can guess the twist earliest. I think it took me 20 minutes. (44 words)

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the slightly long sequel about drug cops in Miami fighting a host of bad ass Russian and Cuban gangsters over $100 mil and lots of ecstacy hidden in corpses. Requires no effort. (38 words)

Stephen Fry's directorial debut based on the novel Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh, 20s set tale about a group of unsympathetic young rich kids. Interesting but depressing. Given Fry's undisputed genius I had hoped for more. (36 words)

Quirky tale about man who is hypnotised into believing peoples looks are related to their inner beauty. Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow. Surprisingly funny. (24 words)

50's set comedy with Ewan McGregor and Renee Zelwegger about the battle of the sexes in New York. Triumph of style over content but fun nevertheless. (26 words)

Lovely animated film about a fish whose son Nemo goes missing and all the people he meets on his way to find him. Amazing schooling fish scenes. Not just for the kids. (32 words)

Well executed adaptation of Little Women with Winona Ryder, Susan Sarandon etc. Good Sunday morning filmbut not particularly innovative and, it has to be said, very girly! (27 words)
