Simon Pegg is an abnoxious journalist with hiddden depths in this comedy which also stars Jeff Bridges and Kirsten Dunst. Set mostly in New York it depicts his rise to celebrity magazine success, but at what cost to his integrity and his true love? Enjoyable but hopefully not too realistic. (50 words)

Set in the 1980s, this endearing film tells the story of a young Plymouth Brethren boy who, when watching TV for the first time, sees Rambo First Blood! He forms a friendship with the school naughty boy and, together, they film their own Rambo-esque 'screen test'and come of age! (49 words)

This adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel is atmospheric and bleak (see review of 'The Road'). The Coen Brothers stylise this film about a *very scary* serial killer who pursues a surly hick-town vietnam-vet who stumbles upon $2m of drug money. Big body count, bigger performance from Tommy Lee Jones. (49 words)

Kiera Knightley is cast as the heroine in this historic drama about the exciting and tragic life of the Duchess of Devonshire. It is very admospheric and moving, while still providing an entertaining insight into high society. The supporting cast are admirable but Knightley is the star. (47 words)

Jack Black and Mos Def play 2 characters who work in a Harlem thrift video rental store. Due to a magnetic 'incident', all the video tapes get wiped and they set about filming their own versions as a money-spinner. A quirky film about community spirit. Jack Black is ace! (49 words)

The brothers Whitman haven't seen each other much recently so they go on a *journey-of-discovery* in India and come out the other side better people (I think). The film is atmospheric rather than eventful. If only every gap year student had access to the cash that these chaps have! (49 words)

Harrison Ford plays a bank computer security expert who is forced to rob his employer when his family are kidnapped. The intensity is there and so is the Brit baddie (Paul Bettany). But it's let down by the plot which fizzles out. Remember to tidy away stray pick-axes though... (49 words)

Okay...a kung fu movie without kung fu...with ping pong instead. Christopher Walken plays the 'bad guy'and Maggie Q the love interest. They may not have read the script. I suspect that this would be funny if I was 15 and lobotomised. Find in Morrisons' under £3 bin. (47 words)

Nicholas Cage reprises his role as Ben Gates, treasure hunter and historical super-sleuth. Loosely based around the folklore surrounding the assassination of Abe Liincoln, the movie is an uncanny carbon copy of the first in this franchise - copied and pasted special effects and all! A silly, fun no-brainer. (49 words)

Set in late '66s Harlem, Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington) takes over from his recently deceased gangster boss and floods the Tri-state area with pure heroin sourced from Vietnam with a little help from corrupt police officers. Detective Ritchie Roberts (Russell Crowe) is the man to stop Lucas (eventually). Ecellent epic. (50 words)
