After watching his soon-to-be-fiance pop her clogs as he pops the big question, Anderson (Jason Biggs) is down in the dumps until he meets Katie (Isla Fisher) and spontaneously proposes to her. Some great deadpan jokes and a quirky take on love at first sight. But a little disjointed. (49 words)

Dennis Doyle (Simon Pegg) is a bit of a loser who ran out on his pregnant wife years ago and tries to win her back. He competes for her attentions by taking part in a marathon against her boyfriend. Quite sweet and funny in places - Sunday night no-brainer. (49 words)

Po is a panda with dreams of escaping his dad's noodle bar and becoming a kung fu master...and, by chance, he gets his wish and becomes awesome in a totally awesome way! An excellent kids cartoon with Jack Black excelling as Po. Scadooouchhe! (43 words)

Suspend your disbelief, take your friends, laugh and cry at this wonderful piece of musical silliness! The singing is of variable quality, but that really doesn't matter if you're in the spirit of things. With a cast who participate with great heart I wanted to 'sing it out loud'. (49 words)

For a birthday evening out with the girls this movie, several years on from the tv series, was perfect fodder. It sees the 4 leads (including Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker)encountering new traumas, being jilted, adultery, pregnancy, with obligatory happy endings. Bit slow to start but fun. A US compound in Saudi Arabia is blown-up by religious fundamentalists and hundreds of locals and US citizens are killed. We follow the joint investigations by the local police and the FBI (Jamie Fox, Jenifer Garner and Patrick Bateman). An interesting take on terror and how 2 cultures interact. (49 words)

The scenario is reminiscent of the post-apocalyptic scene portrayed in Cormac McCarthy's novel, The Road (see earlier). Will Smith is the sole survivor on earth and scientist in New York city following armageddon. He experiments on the once-human, inhabitants to find the cure to the man-made virus. Very frightening indeed. (50 words)

Billed as a rom-com, I found little humour and more than a pinch of sadness in this subtitled film of a group of Lebanese hairdressers in Beirut. Affairs, senility, sex before marriage and other neuroses to boot are the sub-plots here. Well filmed but far too worthy for me! (49 words)

Salesman Chris Gardner (Will Smith) can't make ends meet for his wife and son but dreams of being a stock broker. It's difficult to watch as Chris and his son are made homeless as he completes an unpaid internship at a stock-broking firm. A tear-jerking end. Worth the heartache. (49 words)

There was so much potential to ruin this in the same way as Star Wars, but in the end we got what we wanted, a classic Indy movie. Harrison Ford looks incredibly spritely for his age, and even the new characters work pretty well. A worthy addition to the franchise. (50 words)
