For a group of a similar size to The Polyphonic Spree, The Reindeer Section manage to maintain a small warm sound which just wraps you up in its arms and makes everything feel better. The sort of album that is ideal for sitting with a bottle of wine and relaxing. (50 words)
| 0 Comment(s)First show of the UK tour at Nottingham Ice Centre showed that the band are perfectly capable of flawlessly reproducing their greatest hits and that their new stuff isn't bad either. Most were there for the nostalgia and were not disappointed. They look and sound great! (46 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Not an album to listen to if you're feeling down but classic Hannon all the same. He has a knack of making his music sound almost like a musical... why hasn't he written a film score yet? His voice is superb as ever and some interesting backing from Lauren Laverne (50 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Difficult to be objective about this as I am inclined to think that the album title says it all, but I am a professional reviewer so would have to say, overall pretty good but the more recent stuff doesn't quite live up to classics Save a Prayer and Wild Boys (50 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Having several previous albums but never really getting noticed, Thirteen Tales... finally brought together everything good about the Dandy's. Atmospheric mood pieces such as Godless sit well with hard rock in Horse Pills. Unfortunately not matched by the follow-up offering Welcome to the Monkey House. Still a must have. (49 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Another album which snuck up on me, it is their third but the first that I have heard. A combination of Feeder-like guitar and The Doves vocals is a good start and original tracks lead to an excellent album. They also have a really well designed web-site by the way. (50 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Probably the most accesible of the Wedding Present's back catalogue. David Gedge warbles for Northern England and the songs are strum-tastic. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah and Swimming Pools, Movie Stars are the best songs and are great memories of a time when indie music was real indie music! (49 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Purchased in the vain hope that Belle & Sebastian could recreate the genius of their early work (If You're Feeling Sinister), this album has moments of joy (I'm A Cuckoo) and moments of baffling mediocrity. Stuart Murdoch has a lovely voice which lifts all the songs he sings on. (49 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Ryan fails to recreate the quality of Heartbreaker, in this double album of acoustic songs. His version of Wonderwall is more fun live but the albums are still better than most. Buy the album of the same name by the Kitchens of Distinction - it's much better! (47 words)
| 0 Comment(s)Quite simply, the album of 2003. there is not a bad song on the album and it has not left my cd changer since I bought it. The title track and Out of Nowhere are the best tracks both having such a feel-good sing-along signature that you can't help smiling. (50 words)
