The long-awaited 2002 follow-up to their classic 'When I Was Born For The 7th Time' doesn't disappoint. This is much more beats focused but still holds indie-crossover appeal in the likes of 'Staging The Plaguing Of The Raised Platforms'and the genious 'Spectral Mornings'. Sitar and dancefloor converge! (47 words)

This is acoustic Americana at its best. Foucault's voice is full of resonance and the songs evoke images of an untamed America. The best track is 'Cross of Flowers'. Other stand-outs include '4&20 Blues' and 'Stripping Cane'. One to buy for a road-trip across an arid US landscape. (48 words)

This album is dripping with glam influences. From the opening track the mixture of grinding synths and stomping beats never lets up. The songs are quite catchy, causing the odd listener to start humming “Oh La La” on peak hour trains. OK, it was me. But you will too! (49 words)

Admittedly I was quite reserved when I gave it a first listen, probably because I had “Innervisions” firmly entrenched in my mind as his best release. But I must confess, it’s grown on me, with tracks like “So What the Fuss” serving as a reminder of his great talent. (49 words)

Another great release from the former frontman of Ben Folds Five. It’s a great collection of catchy tunes, with some lovely melodies and vocals. There is no doubting his song writing ability and skills as a pianist. I guarantee you won’t stop playing this for weeks. (46 words)

Patrick Fitzgerald, the lead singer of Fruit, may (or may not) be best known for his work in the genius band Kitchens of Distinction. This 1997 release saw Patrick branch out into indie-pop with catchy tunes like 'What Is Fruit' sat alongside darker songs like 'Leather Jacket'. Eclectic fun! (49 words)

This second release by the remnants of Rage Against the Machine and the ex-Soundgarden lead singer hits the mark again, with big heavy signature guitar riffs from Tom Morello and the still very powerful vocals of Chris Cornell. Saw them at Brixton Academy last year – fantastic show. (48 words)

When I was at university I bought a few, for want of a better phrase, 'novelty hit singles'. 'Singer Star' is one of those (its A-side companion was the now annoying 'Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe'). This is one of those really cool songs that popped up on my i-Pod. (49 words)

Okay, the premise is a horrid commercial pastiche of classical music. But, for me, and our seven month old daughter, this has been an initiation of sorts - see my other reviews under music! From Debussy, Tchaikovsky through to Bach ("..ahh...Bach...") and Gluck, this album is peaceful bathtime fodder! (49 words)

A great double release - the first disc with the heavier tunes, with the second of a more acoustic nature. Yet another indication of the band’s versatility and the insistence of Dave Grohl to make his mark based in own musical talent rather than rely purely on his Nirvana past. (50 words)
