This is a reissue of a 1965 recorded stage production of American Jewish comedy - the self-parody and humour are quite simply genius. Many an old joke receives a reworking here. Stand-out skits include The Jury ("the lovely Mrs Finklestein")and Conversation In A Hotel Lobby. Funniest CD ever! (48 words)

The Wedding Present hit the mark with angst-ridden strum-tastic indie tunes and Seamonsters in a fine example of their trademarked sound. This was released in 1990 and stand-outs include Dalliance, Rotterdam and Cordrouy. The album was produced by lo-fi God, Steve Albini and the quality shows through. (47 words)

With Richard Ashcroft supporting things didn't get off to a great start but by the time Politik kicked things off the place was rocking. They did quite a long set with a quiet section in the middle. But after that things began to move towards the crescendo of Fix You. (50 words)

I heard 'Me Gustas Tu' from this album on a promo CD and fell in love with it. Manu Chao plays fusion music at its best - reggae mixed with pop mixed with latin mixed with jazz...and it works. Multi-linugual perfection! Enjoy with a south american beer! (47 words)

This band's being compared to a combination of The Streets and the Clash. Not a bad starting point and you can definitely hear the influences with the slightly ska / punky beats and the inventive lyrics. Cash Machine and Feltham Is Singing Out are the stand out tracks for me. (50 words)

A classic album revisited after rewatching Lost in Translations end credits and "Just Like Honey". Taking the Velvet Underground as their inspiration they created an album which still sounds fresh 20 years later. Obviously the inspiration for a lot of todays indie bands and no bad thing for that. This is beautiful acoustic folk music - but don't be put off! Kathryn Williams' most accomplished album, this contains stunning songs - 'Flicker' is my favourite - Kathryn has a soft voice and her lyrics are wonderfully observed..."I keep my time saved in a box from going fast in cars..." This is so much the same sound as their debut album that I had to check the playlist I was listening to the right thing. So if you liked the first offering, you'll like this. There is no evolution in the music but it's still uplifting fun stuff. (48 words)

This early 1990's release saw ex Husker Du front-man Bob Mould create arguably the most polished rock album of that decade. 'Hoover Dam', 'Fortune Teller' and 'A Good Idea' are stand-outs but 'If I Can't Change Your Mind' is the most radio friendly. One to own!! (46 words)

A demo-version laden re-issue album of a band at the end of their creative tether - John Cale had long since left and Lou Reed descended into doo-wop music. That said, there are some cute songs included - the demo version of 'I'm Sticking With You' is famously cute! (49 words)
