I thought that maybe the actors in this movie were "real" people as the quality is so bad but apparently not. What could have been an interesting look at real life in Iraq quickly becomes a guns and bombs shoot-em-up with dialogue so clunky Geroge Lucas could have written it. (50 words)

Jim Bob is ace - his songs on this album are as clever and wordy as any of his Carter USM hits. Standouts are Battling The Bottle and God's Blog. As if this isn't enough, Jim is touring with Carter agin in November!! (43 words)

Vin Diesel is nt what you would call an emotional actor. In fact actor is a bit strong on its own. You have seen this moview so many times before that from the first minute you can predict the outcome. Nothing wrong with this, just not much right or new. (50 words)

A Strange film, this. The format of the folk music band reunion is 'mockumentary' and it brings out the quirky characters from these supposed bands. Eurine Levy is brilliant as the main 'broken' folk singer. But this film doesn't go anywhere or enrich our understanding of the characters. (48 words)

An almost true tale of an Englishman who moves to Paris to launch a new chain of cafés. With tales of backstabbing at work and a huge culture clash everywhere else this is laugh out loud funny. Embaressing on the train! (41 words)

A movie paid for by FogCreek software which follows their intern program for three months as a new product - Co-Pilot is written and launched. An interesting experiment but falls between interesting for the geeks among us and for the normal people as neither group is truly catered for. (49 words)

Nicholas Cage excels in two roles in this film (Charlie Kaufaman and his twin brother, Donald). The film is about about...well, about Charlie Kaufman trying to adapt a play about orchids and miserably failing! Some genuinely bizarre twists! Almost as weird as Being John Malkovich! (45 words)

Charlize Theron tries on her action trousers and she does look good but that's about the only positive from this sci-fi flick which is trying very hard to be mysterious and interesting but failing horribly. Some nice fight scenes and interesting shots fail to bring this above the exceedingly average. (50 words)

Air don't do upbeat music, they are all about chill-out tracks as evidenced by the repeated use of their previous album (Moon Safari) in many home makeover shows. If you liked that then this is more of the same. Ideal as background music for work or a quiet dinner. (49 words)

I don't understand why Alabama 3 are not more successful, I mean there is a huge market for London based "country house"! You will know them from the theme tune to The Sopranos. You should know them from this album. You'll be transported to an updated old west feeling. (49 words)

It's rare to see such a disjointed homoerotic pile of pap. With accents ranging from bad Irish to bad Greek, a story with leaps all over the place but is massively inaccurate all the same, poor acting and a massive 160 minutes running time there's nothing to recommend this. (49 words)

A strange film. On its own it's perfectly passable. Jude Law learns what the consequences of his free loving lifestyle can be. But this is a remake and it's very obvious, the director every so often frames a shot where he looks exactly like Michael Caine, why do that? (49 words)

Insurance Risk Assessor (Ben Stiller) gets dumped while on honeymoon and returns home to run into old schoolmate Polly (Jennifer Aniston). Set in late '66s Harlem, Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington) takes over from his recently deceased gangster boss and floods the Tri-state area with pure heroin sourced from Vietnam with a little help from corrupt police officers. About as gritty and depressing a film as you can find. Following the setup of the Mexican Mafia from within prison and how it extends beyond onto the streets of LA. Meant to be a morality tale but there is noone here I can identify with. Very realistic though. (49 words)

She may look terrible but Amy Winehouse has a voice to die for. The deep soulful melodies and fifties throwback tunes are wonderfully put together by Mark Ronson the super producer. If you had to check out only one song I'd go for Rehab. Superb. (45 words)

This is a truly excellent new album from Amy. She has reinvented herself musically with the help of Mark Ronson and 'SALAAMREMI.COM' As usual her unique vocals are to die for. Stand out tracks for me are Back to Black, Rehab and Tears Dry On Their Own. (47 words)

The premise of a man (Firth) coming to terms with his relationship with his father (Broadbent) as the latter dies of cancer is not happy but this is an entertaining, as well as touching film. Both leads and supporting cast (including young versions of Firth) are convincing. (47 words)

While there may be a few very convenient plot developments in this Di Vinci Code follow-up, overall it is more thrilling and coherant with its single geographical location. Hanks as lead and Mcgregor in support stand out but there is only one thin female role. Thoroughly enjoyable anyway. (48 words)

Well, it's better than the Da Vinci Code...and to give the book its due, it is mostly fast moving and exciting and has lots of twists and turns. Brown is as good as Himingway in describing the tiny romantic sub-plot...but I still maintain that Ludlum did this genre better! (49 words)

Genuinely funny and all the better for Jack Nicholson and (most of) the cameo appearances. Sandler plays himself as usual but the script seems to be slightly more inventive than his other films. Let down badly by the twist ending but at least a new approach was taken. (48 words)

Astonishingly good. This is a fictional journal of extraordinary interest, factually accurate, spanning the majority of the 20th century. One can relate to the emotion expressed and marvel at the adventures some only dream of. I would advise anyone in need of a novel to pick up this classic. (49 words)

There's been lots of press about the 'Monkeys and, on the basis of this record, a lot of it is deserved. They are the Carter USM of the 2000s with social commentary similar to The Streets added in! Standouts include 'Dancing Shoes' and 'Fake Tales of San Francisco' (48 words)

Re-watched this on tv. It starts promisingly as quite an epic but then rapidly deteriorates into odly timed 'adventure' with a bland script and zero chemistry between leads Knightly and Owen. The knights are quite cute, Ray Winston surprisingly stands out. So disappointing. (43 words)

Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt and Greg Kinnear all put in great performances in this definition of a feel-good movie. Nicholson plays an obsessive compulsive author who hates everyone and everything. In his attempts to woo Hunt he begins to become more human. A joy of a movie. (47 words)

This 2005 remake of the 70s classic is rather disappointing. Where the original was quite shocking, this is derivative, the story has been changed to a standard action flick. The only even slightly interesting character is played by Brian Dennehey but there still not much to make this worth watching. (50 words)

Quite simply, the album of 2003. there is not a bad song on the album and it has not left my cd changer since I bought it. The title track and Out of Nowhere are the best tracks both having such a feel-good sing-along signature that you can't help smiling. (50 words)

Gripping, gritty, and pretty great! The casting in this pre-war/ wartime drama has made a new (to me) hero of James McEvoy and increased my opinion of Keira Knightly. The tale of jealousy and tragic circumstance really evokes the spirit of wartime London and Dunkirk. Had a few surprises too! (50 words)

Baz Luhrmann's epic set in Australia's Northern Territories is fantastic. Great cinematography and a storyline that really holds the film together. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman's characters' romance blossom amid cattle droving, Japanese bombings and the horridly racist culture. Much better than the reviews thought! (45 words)
