As I didn't hugely enjoy the book I expected this movie to be less than great but actually the condensed film version was more enjoyable than the overly long and detailed novel. The chemistry between Sophie and Langdon is negligible but overall the acting is good. Not too bad. (49 words)

It's rare that a "techno-thriller" is anywhere close to accurate in technical terms but this story of a computer program taking over the world is actually founded in reality. Well written and exciting we follow the story from all sides as a dead programmer's gradually takes apart the economic world. (50 words)

A prequel for the Robert Langdon character I first met in the Da Vinci Code and really it is more of the same. Intelligently written and a wide coverage of both religion and science. Not what you would call believable but entertaining all the same. Well worth a look. (49 words)

If you write websites for the internet then testing all the different browser versions can be a pain. If you didn't own a Mac then testing Safari was hard until iCapture came along. It will load the url you ask it to and give you a screen shot in return. (50 words)

An interesting insight into the man who has transformed himself from “the drummer guy in Nirvana” to a credible artist in his own right. The narrative is a bit naïve and sloppy, typical of some in the music press, but the story does shed some light onto an incredible career. (50 words)

This is a potted history of the Dead Kennedys. Left-wing punk rock from the 1980s espoused by frontman Jello Biafra gives us classics like Holiday In Cambodia and California Uber Alles. The American military industrial complex and its relationship with the UK is explored and is still surprisingly relevant! (49 words)

If you like bikini clad women fighting in slow motion you will love this film. It is losely based on the video game with the same name. Its harmless, but will never win any awards. (35 words)

A true story of 3 Jewish brothers who avoid detention by the Nazis in Poland by hiding in a forest. They become a beacon for other escapees until a community lives with them in the intollerable conditions. An unselfish act-of-faith by the 3 brothers. Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell star. (50 words)

Based on a Father & Daughter telling a story starting with the present and remembering the past, to who the daughter's mother is & how her father finds love. There are some clever scenes from the young girl which create good humour of children learning about life. A good film (50 words)

This Denzel Washington thriller starts off traditionally enough but soon descends into Minority Report lite territory with a "time travel" device which he uses to try and prevent a crime. Plot holes abound as we career along a well trodden path of sci-fi cliche and average acting. (47 words)

This revival of the Bruce Willis franchise is fun popcorn fodder. With no attempt at a plot you just get two hours of non-stop action and pithy comebacks, it's like the eighties never left us and it's good. The only bummer is the lack of the full "Yipee Kai Yay...". (50 words)

Folliowing the careers of The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre as the former thrives and the latter self destructs, this documentatry provides great insight into how a hugely talented musician can sabotage his life and then blame the people around him. Very sad but a good watch. (49 words)

Although it does raise a smile in places this movie is really appalling. The only things which keep it out of the gutter are that the cast look like they're enjoying themselves and the cameos (William Shatner, Lance Armstrong etc). Stiller should think more carefully before saying yes to movies. (50 words)

This story of Domino Harvey's life had the potential to be really good; the jerky, haphazard style of the film keeps on interrupting the whole thing. A cracking cast still make it worthwhile with fun performances from Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken, it just could have been so much better. (50 words)

As long as you can forget Pacino as the Godfather this is a really good movie with the fact that it's based on reality making it even better. Johnny Depp is an undercover FBI agent who becomes too much involved. Superb performances all round and genuinely gruesome in places. (49 words)

Donnie is a high-school kid with "emotional problems" that are dealt with by therapy and drugs. It is left up to you to decide what is real or not of the time travel, apocalypse visions, mental illness and the evil bunny. Original, witty, disturbing in equal measures. Stellar supporting cast. Doom the computer game was scary and atmospheric. Unfortunately this utter waste of time is neither. Even the violence is done on auto pilot. They even chickened out of giving the BFG its proper name. Pointless. (36 words)

The Doves are back with their latest and arguably their best, album, Some Cities. If you've heard the first single "Black & White Town" you will have a good idea what the rest of the tracks will be, an excellent track of affecting commentary about living in small towns. (49 words)

Uplifting beats combine with melancholy mood music to create one of the best albums of recent years. Stand-out tracks are Pounding and There Goes the Fear. The video for the latter, by Aldo Paternostro, is definitely worth a look as well. A stunning follow up to Lost Souls (48 words)

Can you say girly movie? Preposterous story, more style than content and an annoying Renee Zelwegger to boot. I am told that it pays homage to 1960s sex farces but not being into those in a big way a lot of it passed me by (45 words)

Kevin Costner plays a doctor whose pregnant wife dies on a medicine sans frontiers style trip. Whilst dealing with her death, he becomes convinced that she's contacting him - but what is she trying to tell him? I suspect that this mawkish 2002 movie went straight to video! (48 words)

Thanks to a friend showing me this site thought I'd write my first review on this rather cheesey yet funny movie. Based on a bodyguard protecting 3 young lads going into high school from the every tough bully, the humour is good and lead role very dreamy as always. (49 words)

Difficult to be objective about this as I am inclined to think that the album title says it all, but I am a professional reviewer so would have to say, overall pretty good but the more recent stuff doesn't quite live up to classics Save a Prayer and Wild Boys (50 words)

First show of the UK tour at Nottingham Ice Centre showed that the band are perfectly capable of flawlessly reproducing their greatest hits and that their new stuff isn't bad either. Most were there for the nostalgia and were not disappointed. They look and sound great! (46 words)
