The third of the Harry Potter series sees a more grown up cast and plot. Harry and his friends face danger from an escaped prisoner who is trying to get to Hogwarts and have to undertake powerful magic to protect themselves. A valiant effort given the length of the book. (50 words)

A really quite odd concept - a murder trial in a WWII POW camp. I have issues with both Colin Farrell and Bruce Willis so maybe that coloured me against the film from the start but somehow it just didn't... work. The redeeming character is the camp commandant. (48 words)

This is really not as bad as everyone says. As long as you don't expect the movie to be a faithful adaptation of the book I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The effects are good, Freeman makes a good Arthur Dent and the few jokes which remain are still good. (50 words)

Brit flick black comedy made good - this tale of a diverse group of people on a northern alottment has the usual mix of gritty realism and heartwarming tales. Full of recognisables, this film managed to tackle issues of immigration and cauliflowers in one film. Pretty enjoyable all round. (49 words)

Bruce Willis is the action movie guy to go to and he doesn't disappoint here. There's nothing really new in this story of a cop trying to free a family from their home. But you don't want new from Willis, he is so good at the things we already know. (50 words)

A very well made Dreamworks family movie about 2 kids placed with horrible foster parents (Kudrow and Dillon). They have to hide their dog and eventually find a wonderful derelict hotel for the mutt and numerous other doggy friends. They find themselves and cool adoptive parents too (of course!). (49 words)

A beautiful Chinese film about a blind courtesan who is revealed as a member of the Flying Daggers, a guerilla insurgency. The choreography/cinematography are breathtaking, the use of colour exquisite. The story line is proposterous, though that may be a very Western view. I laughed where I wasn't supposed to.
