A replacement for the trusty (well, except for the battery)2002 20gb i-Pod and it's great. This has a colour screen, room for tens of thousands of songs and photos and the ability to do slide shows through the TV. Much better sound quality than the 2nd generation i-Pod. (48 words)

The scenario is reminiscent of the post-apocalyptic scene portrayed in Cormac McCarthy's novel, The Road (see earlier). Will Smith is the sole survivor on earth and scientist in New York city following armageddon. He experiments on the once-human, inhabitants to find the cure to the man-made virus. Very frightening indeed. (50 words)

But she did. And it was a perfectly adequate chick flick. Saunter, don't run, to sky box office if you need trash or, even better wait for film 4. Btw it was SJP and she was SJP. (37 words)

Lots of quotable torpid undergraduate philosophy here for the existentialist in you! Are life's coincidences all linked or is it all meaningless? The film seems to conclude that the answer may lie somewhere between the two! Great film, great cast and there's a plot line too! (46 words)

Friendless Peter goes out to prove to his new fiance that he can make man friends and ends up hooked up with Sydney, the aged adolescent. They have lots of fun but a fall out, leading to a final scene reunion that plays right into the bromance stereotype. OK. (49 words)

Already reviewed by another reviewer but felt the need to comment on the prevalence of spectacle over continuity in this film. It was amazing to watch, you are convinced the robots are real, but some serious editing has left a few stories starting but going no-where. Smith is great though. (50 words)

As a Lotus Notes/Domino developer there is little choice but to be looking at Websphere etc. To this end there is the DeveloperWorks Professional Subscription. Now, it is expensive, but if you want to pick up Websphere, DB2 or, indeed, Lotus Notes/Domino there is no cheaper legal way. (48 words)

The first release by the Boo's who later flirted with chart success with 'Wake-Up' and recorded the 'intentional classic', 'Giant Steps'. Ichabod & I contains a shoe-gazing classic, 'Kaleidoscope'. I crahed my mum's car to this and still have twinges of guilt when I listen to it! (47 words)

Thriller' with John Cusack and Ray Liotta, slightly in the slasher serial killer vein but with a crap twist that meant the rest of the movie was irrelevant. (28 words)

This double CD gives a description on the inlay of what is going on in each scene and Act in this rollercoaster ride of love and revenge. The European Chamber Orchestra and Chorus provides the music and was led and conducted by my colleague, Duncan Hinnells. Beats ClassicFM! (48 words)

Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson play 2 hit men who are sent to Bruges to let the heat die down after Farell's chracter accidentally kills a young boy. Part gangster movie and part expose on the conscience of a for-hire killer. Extremely violent, darkly humorous but also very thought provoking. (50 words)

A comedy come action based on two irish hit men on their last hit for their boss. On their way they find culture, love, the fanstasy of being somewhere but Bruges?.... A good film, quite funny but also quite twisted in places. (42 words)

Dennis Quaid, Scarlett Johansson and Topher Grace star in this light, but entertaining story of a twenty-something high achiever who is promoted above his abilities. Quaid and Grace play off well against each other while Johansson plays Quaids daughter very well. As a commentary about corporate life very entertaining. (49 words)

Cameron Diaz and Toni Colette star in this film which manages to go further than its romcom appearance. When two very different sisters fall out they have to face their own demons (be that appearance or illiteracy) in order to better appreciate each other. More depth than I expected. (49 words)

Thought provoking, engrossing, insightful, frlghtening. This is a spectacular book set in a very near future London where a catastrophic terrorist attack on a Chelsea/ Arsenal derby profoundly affects the lives of one mother who decides to tell her story to Osama in a letter. Requires concentration but brilliant. (49 words)

There was so much potential to ruin this in the same way as Star Wars, but in the end we got what we wanted, a classic Indy movie. Harrison Ford looks incredibly spritely for his age, and even the new characters work pretty well. A worthy addition to the franchise. (50 words)

A fairly standard heist movie taken slightly above average by the quality of the cast with Denzel Washington and Clive Owen being the leads. Jodie Foster adds some mystery. Slightly disappointing twist at the end but it does at least keep you guessing. (43 words)

Robert Downey Jr stars in this Marvel film as an owner of a weapons company who uses his genius to create an 'iron man' jet suit. Jeff Bridges is his not-so-obedient right-hand man and Gweneth Paltrow stars as the love interest. Fun with great special effects. (46 words)

Superior comic book take-off with Robert Downey Junior starring as the weapons inventor who, after being captured tries to make good on the bad he has done. Brilliant effects, surprisingly funny and set up nicely for a sequal. Given how well this went down it won't be far behind. (49 words)

A little known Hawaiin singer whose version of Over the Rainbow has been used a lot recently. It is absolutely haunting. The quality of his voice and the emotion behind the songs make this an album you can't just drop into, you have to sit and savour every track. (49 words)

Can't believe it took me so long to see this Christmas classic - but at least I got the big screen experience at the local arthouse. Clarence the unlikly angel is sent to help George, whose life seems to be imploding. Poignant, charming but I didn't need the tissues. (49 words)

Set in Ibiza in the 90s this story of a DJ who goes deaf starts off well with a gritty yet funny depiction of a man who's life is in a tailspin. But the end is less than satisfactory, you get the feeling that someone in Hollywood got at it. (50 words)

The poet and musician, Ivor Cutler, sadly died this week aged 83. He is my second favourite poet and this album makes me smile every time I listen to it. Poems such as 'An American Drink' and 'The Specific Sundry' confirm Cutler as a brilliant absurdist and wit. (48 words)

Will Smith proves he is a very talented green screen actor. There are so many special effects in this very watchable summer block-buster that he must have rarely seen a real person to act against. Story is secondary to the action and all in all this is a good thing. (50 words)
