The poet and musician, Ivor Cutler, sadly died this week aged 83. He is my second favourite poet and this album makes me smile every time I listen to it. Poems such as 'An American Drink' and 'The Specific Sundry' confirm Cutler as a brilliant absurdist and wit. (48 words)

The European Chamber Orchestra and Chorus provides the music and was led and conducted by my colleague, Duncan Hinnells. Beats ClassicFM! (48 words)
| 0 Comment(s)This is acoustic Americana at its best. Foucault's voice is full of resonance and the songs evoke images of an untamed America. The best track is 'Cross of Flowers'. Other stand-outs include '4&20 Blues' and 'Stripping Cane'. One to buy for a road-trip across an arid US landscape. (48 words)

| 0 Comment(s)Okay, the premise is a horrid commercial pastiche of classical music. But, for me, and our seven month old daughter, this has been an initiation of sorts - see my other reviews under music! From Debussy, Tchaikovsky through to Bach ("..ahh...Bach...") and Gluck, this album is peaceful bathtime fodder! (49 words)

She’s got amazing musical talent, and after seeing her play “Tangled up in Blue” at a Bob Dylan tribute, she’s won me over. (50 words)

Stand-out skits include The Jury ("the lovely Mrs Finklestein")and Conversation In A Hotel Lobby. Funniest CD ever! (48 words)
| 0 Comment(s)A classic album revisited after rewatching Lost in Translations end credits and "Just Like Honey". Taking the Velvet Underground as their inspiration they created an album which still sounds fresh 20 years later. Obviously the inspiration for a lot of todays indie bands and no bad thing for that. | 0 Comment(s)This early 1990's release saw ex Husker Du front-man Bob Mould create arguably the most polished rock album of that decade. 'Hoover Dam', 'Fortune Teller' and 'A Good Idea' are stand-outs but 'If I Can't Change Your Mind' is the most radio friendly. One to own!! (46 words)
| 0 Comment(s)20 years of purveying intelligent and perfect sing-along pop songs have not dampened Erasure's live performance. Vince Clarke orchestrated things with a besuited frown while Andy Bell belted out songs old and new with high camp style. Standouts included Drama and Blue Savannah and the stage set was enchanting!
