With Richard Ashcroft supporting things didn't get off to a great start but by the time Politik kicked things off the place was rocking. They did quite a long set with a quiet section in the middle. But after that things began to move towards the crescendo of Fix You. (50 words)

I heard 'Me Gustas Tu' from this album on a promo CD and fell in love with it. Manu Chao plays fusion music at its best - reggae mixed with pop mixed with latin mixed with jazz...and it works. Multi-linugual perfection! Enjoy with a south american beer! (47 words)

This is beautiful acoustic folk music - but don't be put off! Kathryn Williams' most accomplished album, this contains stunning songs - 'Flicker' is my favourite - Kathryn has a soft voice and her lyrics are wonderfully observed..."I keep my time saved in a box from going fast in cars..." The impossibly cool Huey et al are back with more of the same. A mixture of rock, latin, pop and R&B combined in an homage to their home city... New York. If you liked Welcome to Poppy's you'll love this, if you didn't then don't bother. (46 words)

The Doves are back with their latest and arguably their best, album, Some Cities. If you've heard the first single "Black & White Town" you will have a good idea what the rest of the tracks will be, an excellent track of affecting commentary about living in small towns. (49 words)

Athlete had a real challenge to even match Vehicles & Animals but they have managed it and, I suspect that on further listening may even have bettered it. There is no pretension here we just have a group of songs which immediately grab your attention and make you feel happier. (50 words)

This accessible 1992 album saw the Youth move to Geffen Records, where their musical nephews, Nirvana were signed. The album gives the expected feeback a-plenty, but also some memorable tunes in Wish Fulfilment, Chapel Hill and On The Strip - memories of being 16 and Angry, Very Angry! (48 words)

This 1997 forgotten classic has some real beauts! Sleep On The Left Side, Brimful of Asha and When The Light Appears are all great. If you like the fusion of dance and indie pop, this is a must have. (39 words)

An eclectic mixture of Latin music tinged by English influences ranging from techno to pop. Huge in South America and Europe but pretty much unknown here. I don't understand why this is so. Well woth a listen. (37 words)
