This is a high end unit with onboard route planning, voice direction and house number resolution. It breezed through London where there's lots of high buildings and short notice route changes. When going through tunnels it re-acquired the signal in seconds. Even a cold boot takes only around 30 seconds. (50 words)

This earlier version of Apple's all conquering iPod could be bought as either a Windows or Mac compatible which made it slightly less usable but even today it is still a superb music player. You will need a firewire port and there are battery issues to resolve. (47 words)

If you work in the IT development arena you will have to use MS products (much as you may not want to). Unless you have an MSDN subscription which costs a fortune, there is no reason to miss out on the Action Pack. It has everything a developer could need. (50 words)

If you write websites for the internet then testing all the different browser versions can be a pain. If you didn't own a Mac then testing Safari was hard until iCapture came along. It will load the url you ask it to and give you a screen shot in return. (50 words)

the ixus is just tiny, it fits in the palm of my hand and has a 3.2 megapixel resolution, over twice as good as my old fuji. it also makes use of sd for its storage which makes life extremely easy for transferring files around. (45 words)

A GPS is one of those things which you buy on a whim but after using it would be terribly hard to stop. I have driven with it for around 8,000 miles and the simple fact is that during this time I have never got lost. QED. (47 words)

Good bits - sound, footprint (credit card size) and interface. But you only discover these once you have negotiated the shocking software which enables you to get files onto the thing in the first place. Reasonable value at £150, but if less impatient than me, wait for the iPod mini. (50 words)

As a Lotus Notes/Domino developer there is little choice but to be looking at Websphere etc. To this end there is the DeveloperWorks Professional Subscription. Now, it is expensive, but if you want to pick up Websphere, DB2 or, indeed, Lotus Notes/Domino there is no cheaper legal way. (48 words)

Having reviewed this previously, I thought readers might be interested to learn that I have returned the item from whence it came for a full refund. Quite simply the most frustrating and excrutiating piece of equipment I have ever (failed to) interfaced with. (43 words)
